The International Audiovisual Festival on Museums and Heritage (FIAMP) is organized by AVICOM, ICOM’s International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Image and Sound. FIAMP is an international professional event designed to promote the achievements of museums making use of new image and sound technologies. It is a competition refereed by an international jury of experts that is held in a different country each year in conjunction with the AVICOM committee annual meeting which takes place at its international conference.
Bringing together the latest developments in cybermuseology with audiovisual and multimedia projects from all over the world, FIAMP highlights the best achievements in the world of museology.
For more information, please contact Manon Blanchette, AVICOM President, or call 514 872-1002 at Pointe-à-Callière.
For the last 15 years, AVICOM has promoted and recognized excellence in audio-visual and multimedia creations from around the world. Once again this year, the festival will close with a conference. The Awards Ceremony will be held on October 11th. Moment Factory, the Montreal-based company renowned for its spectacular multimedia shows for Céline Dion and Madonna, will collaborate with Sid Lee to design this special event. A spectacular evening not to be missed!
The call for the FIAMP competition is now closed. Thank-you to all the museums and institutions who submitted their audio-visual and multimedia productions. We will publish the official selection on-line soon. The works of the finalists will be presented to the delegates at the conference before the official awards ceremony, to be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
Being among one of the first French-speaking cities in North America, and having a population of nearly two million, Montreal is a cultural and economic centre which bridges Europe and the Americas. Distinguished by its bilingual and multicultural society, the city is recognized internationally as a mecca for creativity, enriched by an abundance of businesses specialized in new technologies, multimedia, research, culture and high-tech industries.
This network is supported by numerous ambassadors, whose personalities and innovativeness demonstrate how much they value our heritage. These individuals also strive to remind society about the importance of art and technology in Montreal. On the cultural stage, actors, producers and artists share a heartfelt desire to promote the originality of their projects and great accomplishments, all characterized by tremendous diversity, and enriched with external influences and collaborations.
Designated a UNESCO City of Design since 2006, Montreal is appreciated for its multiple festivals taking place throughout the year, and the authentic beauty of its Old Port. This effervescent metropolis is comprised of a rich network of museums with almost forty of these museums grouped within the Board of Montréal Museums Directors, one of the partners organizing this year's conference and the competition (FIAMP) for the AVICOM Committee 2012.
In this regard, Montreal is pleased to continue these exchanges and host the 2012 AVICOM Committee conference, from October 9 to 12, 2012. More »

The competition is open to any museum or cultural institution in the world as well as professionals and private companies having undertaken projects for museums and cultural institutions.
Productions should promote either a cultural institution, collections, museography, heritage as defined by UNESCO, an artist or art history though one the following formats: educational, informational, promotional, edutainment or artistic.
The FIAMP 2012 edition prizes will be awarded in 9 categories including the AVICOM Grand Prize, renamed in honor of the founder of the AVICOM Committee, Nicole-Claude Hocquard.
Winners will receive a trophy created by a local artist.
The jury consists of panel of experts recognized by their peers and is mandated to review the submissions selected by the AVICOM General Commissariat. Its selection is based on the quality of the content (scientific value) and the form (presentation, ease of use) and may also take originality into account. Prizes are awarded based on a majority vote. The jury reserves the right not to award a prize in a particular category if it deems that no submission has fulfilled its prerequisites. The works of the finalists will be presented to FIAMP participants before the official awards ceremony, to be held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture.
