This year ICOM decided to celebrate the 35th International Museum Day in Zambia (Africa). ICOM President, Hans-Martin Hinz, went to Lusaka, accompanied by Emma Nardi, CECA President. May 18th, they met Hon. Prof. Nkandu Luo, Minister Chiefs and Traditional Affairs, who launched the marching groups to Lusaka National Museums. ICOM and CECA President both delivered a speech to celebrate the event.
On the May 19th a similar ceremony took place in Choma Museum, where a temporary exhibition was opened. In the afternoon ICOM and CECA Presidents met ICOM Zambia executive.
The 21st and 22nd, ICOM President presented a certificate to the honorary member of ICOM Manyando Mukela. CECA President delivered a workshop on the CECA Best Practice tool and animated a discussion to which took part representatives of Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, AFRICOM and SADCHA. During the seminar the idea of a CECA seminar, to be organised in 2015, about the Best Practice tool, was launched. The journey was very useful to take contact with African countries that very seldom participate to CECA activities and to nominate Victoria Chitungu, director of Moto Moto Musem in Zambia, as CECA African Regional Coordinator.
