Next Conference

CIDOC organises an annual conference which typically incorporates:

• Plenary sessions with papers and reports on documentation issues and initiatives
• Workshops and tutorials on specific issues
• Working Group sessions during which members of the Groups pursue their projects
• Annual General Meeting of CIDOC
• Visits to museums to learn about their documentation practices

The 2013 conference

In 2013 CIDOC will meet in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 10-17 August, as part of the ICOM General Conference.

Our focus this year is on outreach and networking with other committees. We have a series of joint events planned for the week in Rio.

Monday 12th, afternoon  (14h00 - 16h00) CIDOC Annual General Meeting

Tuesday 13th CIDOC outreach - CIDOC members are encouraged to attend the meetings of other International Committees

Wednesday 14th Joint "Museum Focus" meeting with COSTUME and ICMS at the Museu da República: joint presentations in the morning followed by hands-on study and evaluation workshops in the afternoon. Evening reception and aperitif in the museum gardens.

Thursday 15th Joint meeting with ICOFOM and ICTOP with a focus on museological terminology: presentations, discussion, lunch and evening reception.

Throughout the conference, we intend to maintain a permanent presence at the 'salon' to answer questions and welcome new members. Where possible, we want to encourage CIDOC members to deliver papers to other committees, either on Tuesday or during the Thursday meeting - to act as "ambassadors" for CIDOC.

Leading up to the 2013 conference, a full week of CIDOC Training August 4-9, will take place in São Paolo.
