Jean Lawrence Druesedow, Chair
Director of the Kent State University Museum, Kent, Ohio, USA. Associate Curator in Charge, The Costume Institute, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1984 – 1992. Member of ICOM since 1984. Served the Costume Society of America as president, 1986-1990, and as a member of the Executive Committee or the Board of Directors, 1980-1993. She has taught History of Costume to both undergraduate and graduate students concurrently with her museum work. At Kent she has the administrative responsibility for the Museum and has served as organizer or curator for more than 40 exhibitions.
Dr. Bernard Berthod, Vice Chair
Curator, Musée de Fourvière, Lyon, France. Historian, specialist in the history of liturgical/ecclesiastical garments and consultant to His Holiness Pope Francis. Has produced exhibitions about liturgical art and written extensively about this subject. ICOM member since 1992.
Alexandra Kim, Secretary
Dress historian and museum curator who has worked at Kensington Palace, Buckinghamshire County Museum, Chertsey Museum and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford on a range of collections and display projects, including the Enchanted Palace at Kensington. From January 2014 she will be co-editor of the journal Costume, published by Maney for the Costume Society UK. Alexandra currently lives in Toronto, Canada where she is working on a variety of dress-related teaching and research projects.
Ninke Bloemberg, Treasurer
Ninke Bloemberg works as a fashion curator at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht (The Netherlands) since 2009. Previously she was involved at the Rijksmuseum and Gemeentemuseum, among other fashion institutions. She curated several exhibitions, for example HAIR! Human Hair in Fashion and Art (2016), Blue jeans (2012), The New Craftsmanship (with Iris van Herpen, 2011) and publishes on a frequent base. Involved in online projects such as Europeanafashion.eu and modemuze.nl. Has an interest in historic costumes, as well as contemporary fashion, both are represented largely in the museum collection. ICOM member since 2006, treasurer ICOM Costume since 2016.
Johannes Pietsch, Board Member
Curatorial Associate, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich, Germany. Trustee of The School of Historical Dress, London, UK.
Dress historian, textile conservator and fashion designer. Specialty: dress from 16th to 18th century, historic tailoring techniques, history of textiles. ICOM member since 2004.
Dorothea Nicolai, Board Member
1995-98 costume supervisor at the State Opera in Vienna, 1999-2007 head of costumes, make-up and wigs at the Salzburg Festival, 2008-2012 costume director at the Zurich Opera House, 2013-2015 director of costumes, make-up and wigs at Salzburg Festival. Profession: Costume designer. Costume committee member since 2005.
Isabel Alvarado, Board Member
Curator of textiles and costumes at the Museo Histórico Nacional in Santiago, Chile. Textile conservator in the Textile Department of the museum since 1981. From October 2011 to December 2011 she was Interim Director of the Museo Histórico Nacional. Professor in the Art School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile from 1986 to 1993, offering courses on the conservation of textiles and history of costumes in Chile. Since 2004 she has been a professor of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property at the Universidad Internacional SEK.Voting-member of the ICOM Costume Committee since 1986, and member of the National Textile Conservation Committee since its creation in 1987.
