ICEE is a standing professional committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
The International Committee for Exhibitions and Exchange (ICOM ICEE) provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences related to the circulation and exchange of exhibitions in all disciplines. Every year, the ICEE conference travels to different cultural scenarios around the world providing a unique multicultural and multidisciplinary platform for discussion of relevant topics related to exhibition development, circulation and exchange.
We work in close collaboration with ICOM national committees, museums, cultural institutions and colleagues in the hosting countries to showcase relevant examples of best practices and innovation in our field. At the same time, our conferences provide networking and business development opportunities aimed to develop new collaborations and strength current partnerships.
During the last three years, the ICEE has growth tremendously. Our 2014, 2015, and 2016 post-conference satisfaction survey results indicate a high level of satisfaction with the ICEE conferences. Also, these survey results suggest opportunities for improvements that we take into account in our planning for future conferences. The current success and visibility of the ICEE would not be possible without the support and efforts of a committed group of ICEE board members and colleagues around the world under the leadership and support of our two most recent presidents, Anne-Catherine Hauglustaine (2010-2013), and Carina Jaatinen (2013-2016).
Our current efforts are focused on strengthening our network of international collaborators in order to increase the visibility of our annual conferences. These collaborators include museums, ICOM national and international committees, public and private foundations and similar organizations, around the world. Also, we are exploring the developing new programs and activities beyond our annual conferences that increase the ICEE visibility throughout the year. These potential new activities include webinars and online presentation and discussions of innovative exhibitions.
As the exhibition exchange field evolves, I see great potential for the ICEE to growth, and actively participate in discussions involving relevant topics such as sustainability, new business models for touring exhibitions, new markets, new technologies as tools to enhance visitor’s learning experiences, audience development & research, among others.
Looking to the future, I am convinced that the ICEE is ready to move forward and becoming a more relevant platform for global exchange of knowledge.
I invite you all to join us in the fascinating journey of exhibition exchange.
