The cornerstone of ICOM is its ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums. It sets minimum standards of professional practice and performance for museums and their staff. In joining the organisation, ICOM members undertake to abide by this Code.
ICMAH is the International Committee for Museums and Collections of Archaeology and History.
ICMAH welcomes all those who work in, are interested in or manage museums with historical and archaeological collections, anywhere in the world. ICMAH values the professional experience of its members and encourages exchange as a contribution to understanding the past, shaping the present and planning the future. ICMAH encourages intercultural dialogue and conducts such dialogue openly. The committee always aspires to single out relevant themes and discussions from the present and to critically reflect upon these.
