The Declaration on Museums and Cultural Landscapes is the result of a series of meetings organised by ICOM-SA and ICOMOS-SA. This document is rooted in the challenges and opporunities that face South African society, and the heritage and museum sector in particular.
The concept of cultural landscapes referes to spaces where there is an interaction between human culture and places, and considers the relationship between ecological and cultural systems. it acknowledges that people impact on nature and that nature provides the framework within which culture evolves.
Representing the International Council of Museums in South Africa and dedicated to providing support to museum professionals locally in integrating with the ICOM network and its resources, as well as addressing common issues in museum practice in South Africa.
