Grade 7 students are involved in supplying us with projects which will involve them in interviewing their parents or grandparents to document some memories they have. We also have asked the general public to contribute articles. We will be making an exhibit of these submissions and it will be open to the public on May 21 when we will be celebrating Museums Day. There will also be a tea from 2-4. This exhibit will be set up at the museum for a month or 2.

Otter Tail County Museum
Museum Day 2011 (9.30am-5pm)
School children in grades 3-6 will take part in a variety of activities related to the exhibit, "Money Isn't Everything." They will learn how to play the dreidle game, trade for items at a fur trading post, will take on the role of local residents from the Great Depression, learn about counterfeiting and do their own replica bank note from local banks.

In celebration of International Museum Day and New York State Heritage Weekend, a celebration of New York’s history and culture, the Marine Museum will kick off the 2011 summer season the weekend of May 14 and 15, from 1-5 pm. As part of the celebration, the Museum, which includes a main exhibit building, National Historic Landmark WWII Tug, "LT-5" and other vessels, will be open to the public free both days. One temporary exhibit in the Museum's new Art Gallery will be "Lighthouses" by local artist Nick D'Innocenzo, which will be unveiled with a ribbon cutting by the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce on Saturday at 1pm. The Museum is open daily 1-5 pm year around and July and August 10-5 pm.

Cantor Arts Center

The Cantor Arts Center presents a wide selection of art in 24 galleries, plus outdoor gardens, courtyards, and terraces — all admission free. The Center's collection spans 4000 years and ranges from ancient China to the 21st century, including the largest collection of Rodin bronzes in the world outside Paris.
Current exhibitions include:
1. A Rediscovered Masterpiece: 12 Drawings from Tiepolo’s New Testament - Illustrations drawn by the prolific Venetian master Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo
2. True Colors: Rediscovering Pigments on Greco-Roman Marble Sculpture - A Center team discovered minute traces of pigments using handheld X-ray fluorescence technology that originally covered an ancient marble sculpture. Creating replicas using 3D rapid prototypic technology, the team recreated and painted examples of the brightly colored sculpture of ancient times.
3. Illustrated Title Pages:1500-1900 - 80 illustrated title pages, tracing the development of the title page from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Entrants may submit personal museum snapshots in several categories and a panel of museum Twitterers will vote for the best in each category. Regional history, historic automobiles and hands-on science are major features of the Sloan Museum. Dramatic settings, video programmes and hundreds of artefacts and photographs portray the area’s tumultuous 20th century history in the Flint and the American Dream exhibit. Traveling exhibits fill the Temporary Gallery with a variety of educational and entertaining displays year round. The Buick Automotive Gallery presents major automotive exhibits featuring vehicles from the Sloan fleet of over 80 Flint-built automobiles.

The Central Arizona Museum Association is a member association serving museums in central Arizona, USA. Each year CAMA invites institutional members to post IMD celebrations on the CAMA website. This year eleven museums will celebrate IMD on May 18 or 19.
In solidarity with the IMD theme of "Museums and Memory" seven CAMA member associations submitted photographs of artifacts, documents, and exhibitions for inclusion in the Arizona Memory Project (AMP). AMP is an ongoing project of the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. The new CAMA International Day Collection will be launched on May 11 at the monthly member meeting. The HCSCC collects, preserves, and presents the history and culture of Clay County and the region. The museum’s Hjemkomst Viking Ship and full-scale replica of Norway’s Hopperstad Stave Church make the museum one of America’s premier destinations for Scandinavian heritage. The Southern Ohio Museum & Cultural Center celebrates International Museum Day on Wednesday, May 18th with a full day of activities for all ages. Commemorating the year’s theme “Museum and Memory,” the museum will showcase documentaries centered on the Ohio Valley, the Ackerman Historical Photograph Collection, the Art of Ancients and the Clarence Carter Collection, all with local and historical significance. Concerts and performances by local artists will occur throughout the day in the museum’s theater as well as demonstrations by visual artists in the galleries. Festivities open at 11am with a welcome from Portsmouth Mayor David Malone and closes in the evening at 7pm with a performance by the museum’s residency troupe, Cirque d’Art Theatre.
